A good business to business marketing strategy involves
a lot of market research to find the target businesses. Also,
you need to find a good directory at the library that has the
names of people in executive positions because they are the
ones that can make the decisions on major purchases or the
ability to refer you to the right person. A business to
business marketing strategy is different from marketing to
consumers because theres a chain of command that you have to
bypass in order to uncover the decision maker. And sometimes
its hard trying to get your foot in the door.
Some good tips are to find out who is the
highest person in charge of that department or the one who
purchases those types of product. You can do this by calling
and asking the secretary. Then thank them politely. Call back
another time and ask to speak to the decision maker by name. If
you need to leave a voicemail, make it intriguing and pique
their curiosity so the person calls back. Dont try to sell
through voicemail. All you want is a call back.
Another strategy is to call and let them know youre sending
a package on a certain day and to watch out for it. Tell them
youll call back after the package arrives. Use a large envelope
to attract attention, mark the decision makers name in big
letters, Fedex it overnight. Make it look urgent. Then call
back that day in the afternoon or the next morning to see if
the person receive it and had a chance to look it over. Then go
from there.
Another good way to sell to the business market
is through your networking. If you know someone that works for
that company, then its so much better and easier to approach a
decision maker. Have you mutual contact introduce you to the
person you need to talk to, in this case, its not as cold as
just calling on someone you dont know.
Or you can use a series of postcards or direct
mail sales letter to initiate contact with the decision maker,
and offer a free report that will benefit them. Use this as a
lead generation and follow up with a phone call. There are many
different business to business marketing strategies. You should
find a business to business marketing strategy or system that
works for you and stick to it.
